The Lost Blessings of Radio
Modern technology is awesome – 20 years ago who would have thought that we’d have the technological reach and power that we have available to our schools and society today! But, with that amazing advancement there is also a great sacrifice that is being made at the expense of our young children. As experienced educators, we’d argue that TV and video media has actually robbed students of certain types of educational skills that they need to be successful as future adults. Although it is a wonderful, powerful, entertaining, and extremely necessary medium, tv-video formatting actually takes away student interaction or involvement in the learning process as the viewer is typically a passive participant during the program. However with good “old fashioned” radio style formatting, students are actively engaged in the material as they are asked to use their imagination, fantasy, creativity, critical thinking, interpretive reasoning, and listening skills. Having been an active participant instead of a passive bystander in the action, lessons are better internalized, digested, and become much more of an integral part of a student's individual daily habits. Just ask any teacher why they still choose to read books aloud to their students … so many important and basic skills are developed with the listening process!

Character Education Topics Covered
“Voices of Reason” covers 18 total character education skills spanning over a 4 CD set. Each individual CD has 9 action stories that revolve around twin combination or “sister” character value traits. These “sister” virtues are similar in meaning – but with very different school and life based applications. Accordingly, the stories on the audio CD's review the similarity in meaning as well as the differences in application for these character education skills. With their slapstick and oddball humor – and in a way only like Achiever and Pester can - the two college buddies review these skills (and their importance) throughout the 9 radio shows on each disc. The “Voices of Reason” adventure series includes 36 episodes that cover the following sister virtues:
With 9 adventures on each CD there are 36 total amazing episodes – one for every school week!
Along with a focus on these "sister" virtues, Achiever and Pester spend time in their slapstick "Abbott and Costello like" routine on the C.A.R.E. system that challenges K-5 students to look at themselves and examine their own: Choices, Attitudes, Results, and Expectations. In close connection, each of the 36 virutes are explained, reviewed, and examined within the parameters of the C.A.R.E. system. And, as all College Crew "members in training" will come to expect, every Achiever Radio mini-episode ends with Achiever's famous challenge and dare to action, "Choose to C.A.R.E. if you dare - it's up to you!"
